I grew up in Eugene, Oregon and after graduating high school in 2010, I moved to Tacoma, Washington to study chemistry at the University of Puget Sound. When I graduated in 2014, I spent several years pursuing careers in laboratories back in Eugene and later in Denver, Colorado only to find myself confined by the solitary nature of commercial chemistry labs.

In between lab jobs, I found myself with two extremely fortunate opportunities to travel. In 2015, I spent three months backpacking in Southeast Asia discovering how much I loved exploration and learning new things.

In 2017, I was able to take advantage of my situation again and spent nine months backpacking in South America looking to find inspiration for what to do with my future.

By 2019, I had found an extremely welcoming community in the Earth Science department at the University of Oregon. I have since fallen in love with geology as it encourages a healthy mix of laboratory, field work, and exploration. After searching for opportunities to satisfy my varied interests, I was fortunate enough to land at Tohoku University, Japan in Oct 2022 where I am now pursuing a Master's degree.
